NEW ALLIANCE TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF MARINE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES

NEW ALLIANCE TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF MARINE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES

Thursday, October 12, 2017

The regions of Basque Country, Navarra, Cantabria and Asturias, as a result of their involvement in the ADMA ENERGY pilot of the Vanguard Initiative, have created an alliance of test sites that will promote the testing of technologies linked to the development of marine energy.

This alliance seeks to add capabilities, taking advantage of their complementarity and offering to the industry a series of unique facilities along the European offshore value chain, from the development of new materials to the testing of prototypes under real operating conditions.

This strategic alliance among Vanguard regions supports the deployment of their respective Smart Specialization Strategies (RIS3), promotes their capacities in scientific-technological infrastructures and positions them as a reference for industries with interests in the offshore energy sector.

The facilities involved are: “Manzana del Acero” (Asturias), the Institute of Environmental Hydraulics (Cantabria), BIMEP, Mutriku and Windbox (Basque Country) and CENER (Navarra).
