SSP ADMA: Join forces with the Vanguard Initiative to promote regional strengths in Advanced Manufacturing

Thursday, July 31, 2014 - 09:30

The VI's recent activity has seen the 21 regions working together to generate an evidence base to support the Commission in the development of Smart Specialisation Platforms in key growth areas. The first area of exploration has been Advanced Manufacturing. In 'leading by example' these regions have now established 3 pilot lines of activity where the VI is seeking to develop pan-EU projects of scale, joining efforts with regions who share similar ambitions in the areas noted below.

These pilot lines are still at an early stage of development and welcome input from regional partners to refine their direction. A wide range of Commission services and units have signaled strong support for this exploratory activity. There is an intention to link this activity to the Italian Presidency event in Milan on 13 November.

The suggested themes are as follows:

Scotland and Basque Country: Advanced Manufacturing for Energy Related Applications in Harsh Environments
