The Vanguard Initiative, represented by The Basque Country, has been selected by the European Commission as a member of the Industrial Forum Commission Expert Group. This is a strong acknowledgement for our network, recognised as a relevant partner on the industrial policy.

The creation of an Expert group was announced in March 2020 by the New Industrial Strategy for Europe as an inclusive mechanism for co-designing solutions with stakeholders. The Forum will consist of up to 55 members, representing a wide selection of various industrial ecosystems, academia, civil society as well as a balanced representation of relevant know-how and areas of interest. By bringing together the views of different entities, it will offer a sounding board for stakeholders and showcase the state of European competitiveness and the progress towards industrial transformation. Supporting the Commission in its systematic analysis of industrial ecosystems and in assessing the risks and needs of the industry will also contribute to the coordination of recovery efforts and the green and digital transformation, with a focus on cross-border and cross-ecosystem collaboration.

The European The commission will officially launch the Industrial Forum at the kick-off meeting on the 1st of February 2021.
The Vanguard Initiative is looking forward to contributing to the reflections about the EU industrial strategy and recovery on the basis of its experience of interregional collaboration around innovative value chains. The Policy Influencing TG will support the VI representative for its active participation in this Forum. A first input will be delivered as a follow-up of the 1st meeting, on the basis of questions addressed by the EC and related to the recovery and priorities for Industrial strategy.
