On Wednesday 8 October 2014, representatives of the Vanguard Initiative’s Regions met several MEPs for a fruitful discussion on industrial policy. Jean-Jack QUEYRANNE (President of the Rhône-Alpes Region) and Esa HALME (Region Mayor of Tampere) accompanied by Peter FRIEDRICH (Minister of European Affairs of Baden-Württemberg), Wim VAN DE DONK (King’s Commissioner of the Province of Noord-Brabant), Bernard SOULAGE (Vice-president of Rhône-Alpes in charge of Europe) and Pere PUIG ANGLADA (Delegate of the Catalan Government to the EU) outlined the need of an industrial renewal of Europe and the cooperation of the European Parliament for a successful result. All MEPs present at the meeting supported the project, acknowledged the central role of regions for industrial growth and insisted on the importance of cross-border cooperation. The conclusion of the meeting allowed ambitious perspectives, both for Vanguard Initiative’s Regions and MEPs to deepen the project.
