Economic relations between the United Kingdom and Baden-Württemberg have traditionally been very good. It is important to invest in close economic dialogue and continue to build new partnerships in key sectors to ensure our shared future prosperity. For this reason, the British Consulate General, the Department for International Trade and the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism Baden-Württemberg launched the BW - UK Partnership Initiative back in 2020.

The vision of the "Economic Partnership Initiative" is to explore new opportunities for economic policy cooperation by intensifying dialogue and at the same time to create concrete cooperation opportunities for companies in order to increase their innovative capacity and thus their competitiveness.
The study " Gemeinsam stärker – stronger together" carried out by Steinbeis 2i GmbH shows that four sectors can be categorised as particularly relevant: the automotive industry, the healthcare sector, the cultural and creative industries and the mechanical engineering and production sectors. There is great potential for synergies between the two economic regions both within and between these four sectors.

Hydrogen and fuel cells have become one of the key technologies of the 21st century and by that will play a crucial role in a sustainable energy supply. This in turn harbors immense potential, both in the UK and in Baden-Württemberg, and especially for partnerships between the two.
