Following the recent publication of the communication “Strengthening Innovation in Europe's Regions: Strategies for resilient, inclusive and sustainable growth“, the Vanguard Initiative was invited to present its organization and practices before the Competitiveness & Growth’ working party of the Competitiveness Council.
The Vanguard Initiative was invited to make a presentation at the ‘Competitiveness & Growth’ working party of the Competitiveness Council on the 18th of September. This intervention took place in the context of the presentation and discussion of the recently published communication “Strengthening Innovation in Europe's Regions: Strategies for resilient, inclusive and sustainable growth”, which highlights the Vanguard Initiative as a good practice and inspiration model for the Thematic smart specialization platforms.
During the discussion, the case for financing needs in interregional innovation projects was made. This discussion will feed in the ongoing work in the Council around the future European Industrial Policy Strategy.
The ‘Competitiveness & Growth’ working party
The ‘Competitiveness & Growth’ working party of the Competitiveness Council is a body with the task of drafting legislation, conclusions and recommendations on the sectors included in the EU growth strategy. The EU growth strategy consist of the following areas; the single market, smart legislation and industrial policy. The working party meet in different constellations depending on the agenda and the issues of discussion. The recommendations made by the ‘Competitiveness and Growth’ working group are passed on to the Competitiveness Council to decide upon.
