VI at the first meeting of the I3 expert group
The first meeting of the Expert Group which will assist the EC in the I3 work programme preparation took place on the 15th of June. It allowed the first exchange of views on this new instrument's draft work programme 2021-2022.
VI is represented by Wim de Kinderen, from South Netherlands, who has been selected among 3 candidates after an internal VI call was launched following the call published in April by the EC for establishing the expert group. Giacomo Copani from Lombardy is in addition selected as an alternate.
Written comments were prepared on this draft and sent to the EC. The preparatory work is managed within a dedicated subgroup of the PITG, supporting the VI representative in his assignment. This represents a new opportunity to pursue the dialogue with the EC about this new instrument inspired by the Vanguard Initiative. The first calls under I3 are expected in October 2021.
