NeMs4BIO democase is preparing a project proposal for the I3 call

The leaders of NeMs4BIO democase, Imec (Flanders) and Oost agency are preparing a project proposal for the second cut-off of I3. Industrial actors from East Netherlands, Flanders, and Emilia-Romagna have confirmed their interest in the five use-cases included in the draft proposal.

The main application fields of the five use-cases that will be part of the project proposal are:
1. Gut-on-a-chip system;
2. Therapeutic antibody production and development;
3. Multiplex real time label free cell analysis;
4. Exosome production & purification;
5. Point of care (PoC) liquid sample multiplex diagnostics.

SMEs and actors of the quadruple helix from the VI member regions that want to know more about the project proposal and consortia can contact the Nano Pilot leader at: [email protected]

Progress in the two latest democases: Structural Health Monitoring and MEMS for nano-analytiX

RINA Consulting SPA - a multinational company with a proven experience across a wide range of industries - is providing its expertise to improve the model of two democases, Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and MEMS for nano-analytiX (M4NA) that are respectively led by NAITEC (Navarra) and CNR-IMM (Emilia-Romagna).

The main deliverable of RINA support is a technology and business report that is made up of three sections. The first section, “REVISION OF DEMOCASE CONCEPT”, provides a characterisation of the democases in the present situation by describing the technology and presenting its main features. The possible fields of application are then analysed. The second part provides an analysis of the European patent scenario and the evaluation of alternative technologies. Finally, a possible value chain of the democase is drawn and some potential European partners, are presented.

The second section, “MARKET ANALYSIS”, provides firstly an initial overview of the main wider markets that may influence the context of the democases. In addition, this section provides insights on the market segments preliminarily identified as targets by the demo leader and a list of selected companies based in Europe that may represent either target technology “users” or/and potential partners for further development and testing activities.

The third section, “BUSINESS MODELLING ACTIVITIES”, adopts the business model canvas approach to draw a set of considerations of potential exploitation paths. The analysis provides considerations on all the building blocks making up the typical business model canvas.
